In Light We See- Narrate By Yu Sheng Ruei

"I’m just only a painting away from you."

Time is cruel, space is realistic. In cruelty and reality, I tried to use these two things to resonate with the viewers, because the distance between the author and the viewer is only a painting and it’s far away but close. Moreover, I tried to wither away this line in this relationship.

This exhibition of "Collection Illuminating" tries to echo the painting with ready-made objects, creates a link between creation and life, and make it easier for the viewer to enter into the events that constructed. It build a relationship of game between viewers, visual symbols and thinking, but game is not the competition of thought, it’s the link between stroke and emotional. "Light" can not only be a cold rational analysis, but also a medium that warms the human mind.

"Light" is an indispensable element of human life, it can be a form of energy, fluctuations, or electromagnetic waves from a scientific point of view. In the history of painting, "light" deconstructed classical realism in the 19th century impressionism.
In the present age 2019, I try to think about the role of light in the dual perspective of science and art in contemporary. As a result, the series of "Collection Illuminating" were born; this topic can be very broad but also can be very in-depth, and it’s worthy for a lifetime to research.

The sphere of mirror has always been the symbol that often appears in painting, through this reflective identity, it opened the door of the dual relationship between the creator and the viewer and show how I express myself even I don’t depict me in these works. It’s a topic that has been discussed in the history of western art, and it’s also what I want to break through at this exhibition.
