Review Opening "Dislocation of Existence #Real ME"
✨ You are cordially invited to "Dislocation of Existence #Real ME" – Absurdity and Grotesqueness in the Contemporary Social Media Era.
Review Opening: Friday, April 11th, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM ✨
This exhibition highlights the first joint exhibition in Taiwan by two Indonesian artists, Ilham Karim and Endry Pragusta. Karim explores the absurdity and personal disorientation of the social media age through painting. Influenced by absurdism and digital culture, his style often features vivid colors and surreal compositions to depict contemporary anxieties. Pragusta, on the other hand, uses grotesque sculptures and installations to satirize contemporary Indonesian social issues such as class, religious conflict, and modernity. His works frequently employ mixed media and challenge traditional aesthetics.
This exhibition aims to showcase Southeast Asian contemporary art's shift away from traditional impressions towards a more philosophical and digitally sophisticated cultural trend, while fostering exchange and dialogue between the Taiwanese and Indonesian art scenes. This is the first solo exhibition in Taiwan for both Indonesian artists, who, through painting and sculpture respectively, explore the concretization of emotions and the fusion of social media reality. They attempt to capture the internal dialogue of contemporary individuals navigating the intersection of the virtual and the real. Through the artists' diverse media and styles, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how individuals seek their true selves in the age of social media, and how art critiques and interprets the various phenomena of contemporary society.
